Evie & Milo: Successful Charity Event

Evie and Milo, in Year 7, wrote about their forms’ successful charity event.

Last week two Year 7 form groups ran a charity event to raise money for Cancer Research.  It took us four weeks to plan, because many decisions needed to be made on what activities would earn money, what day it would be best to hold it, how to best advertise the event and enrolling all the students and teachers who were prepared to be involved. The greatest fund raiser was Sponge the Teacher.

In the run up to the event the publicity included students going around the school telling people about the event, and making posters to come to our stalls.

On the day of the event volunteers gave people the sponges and collected their money. Other volunteers ran stalls selling crisps, sweets and drinks. All of these stalls raised money, too.

Overall, more than £145 was raised for this important charity. We thank everyone for helping this happen.

Everyone involved enjoyed the experience. The students, who gave of their time to organise this, learnt how to be responsible, be organised and enjoy doing something fun that helped others.

We thank the many teachers who came and were great sports in being sponged.

Altogether, we  had a great time and will definitely love to do it again.
