Cheerleading

Wednesday 2nd April saw the Wycombe District Cheerleading Competition.  GMS have been ever present in the four years that it has been running. The work and effort that the girls have invested over this time was fully rewarded.

The evening was split into two competitions – Stunts and Cheerleading.  The acrobatics part of the routine requires power and strength because some girls are raised high, or thrown around. Much trust is required among the team as well as courage!

It is fair to say that GMS ‘stole the show’, ‘swept the board’, ‘cleaned up’ – any number of metaphors could be used to describe the success of our girls.  The experienced crew of Year 11 girls namely: Kate Murphy, Alison Inker, Rachel Goodwin, Shaolin Samuel John and Chantonie Wharton have been a great role model for the younger members of the team, because they have inspired them to believe they can be the best.

Achievements:
  • Team Spirit Award: Great Marlow Panthers
  • Cheerleader of the Year: Amelia Loretto and Tia Swordy
Group Stunt Awards:
  • Level 1: GMS Panthers Team 1 – 2nd
  • Level 1: GMS Panthers Team 2 – 1st Place
  • Level 3: GMS Jaguars
Cheerleading Awards:
  • Level 1: GMS Panthers 1st
  • Level 2: GMS Jaguars 1st
For the record – Panthers are  mostly comprised of Year 7 and Year 8 pupils; Jaguards are mostly Year 9 and Year 10 pupils.
  • Level 1 – can lift to head height
  • Level 2 – can lift to above head height
  • Level 3 – can throw above head height
