On Monday 23rd March, the second of the long-distance championships (two lengths) took place at Dorney.
As GMS has had very little time actually on the water this winter, plus the preparation for the Schools Head last week, meant there was a chance that there would be no outstanding results.
Yet, every crew performed well. The Year 9 crews showed commitment and should be very proud of their performance. Two girls’ crews raced for the first time in a number of years.
The Year 10 boys had a pretty strong performance , coming 14th out of 64 and, importantly, beating local rivals Borlase.
The Year 11 crews were the highest performing crew, with the boys coming a very competitive 7th place, a few seconds off the medals and considerably higher up the order than last year (as J15s) and one place ahead of last year’s J16 crew.
The Year 11 girls produced their highest ranking in this category for many years, some 9 seconds faster than our Year 11s from last year and beating all the local rivals two crews from Marlow and Borlase.
Very pleasing performances that promise well for the future. Congratulations to everyone.
