On Saturday, Great Marlow School Boat Club (GMSBC) rowing up against independent schools in Pangbourne.

For the rowers it was a good test of early season performances and gave them an opportunity to enjoy racing  against some solid opposition.

The format was a 3 km time trial followed by side by side racing based on performances in the time trial. While the direct time trial results were not published straight away, every member of the crew, who had direct opposition, won their event.

The results of the side-by-side racing was truly exciting. All the crews were well supported by cheering family on the river bank and the supporters were well rewarded.

There were eleven side by side races overall, in which GMS competed in nine. Of those GMS won all of them. Some races were won by ‘just a small margin’ others like the Year 10 Boys’ Quad against the Pangbourne and Year 10 Eight were a very comfortable win.

Such a great start to the season and congratulations to all our rowers.
