The celebration of World Book Day started on the 23rd of April 1995; this is where children dress up as characters from a favourite book.
Students in Year 7 had the opportunity to dress up as their favourite character and it was delightful to see Thing 1 and Thing 2, Little Red-Riding Hood, famous footballers, and other creative creations throughout the school day. One teacher, Miss Ben Haj Ali, dressed up as Elsa, from the delightful children’s tale Frozen.
This year’s theme is called “Read Your Way”, which has inspired children to read how they want to, like audiobooks, a chapter per day, or to read the whole book at once. We would like to heavily encourage children to read in a way that is comfortable for them and for all ages to carry on reading.
