Year 9 registration for the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award is on Wednesday 15th October.
The DofE is non-competitive and open to all young people; it’s about setting personal challenges and pushing personal boundaries.
There are three levels of DofE programme which, when successfully completed, can lead to a Bronze, Silver, and Gold Award levels.
DofE instils confidence, resilience, resourcefulness, readiness and responsibility. Employers favour those with DofE experience because it challenges students to problem-solve, work as a team, and have self-motivation. The award is recognised internationally by employers and educational institutions.
To achieve their Bronze Award, four sections need to be completed: skills, volunteering, physical and an expedition. Students choose their activities, GMS leaders provide guidance and support, and facilitate many onsite opportunities. For more details about programmes and timescales look at the school website, or visit the DofE website: www.dofe.org
The cost of registering for the Bronze level of the DofE Award at GMS is £30 per participant, payable via WisePay: an MS Consent Form, also found on WisePay, must be completed. Please be advised there is an additional cost for the experienced company that facilitates the DofE, called Action Adventure Pursuits.
Deposit payment and MS Form completion is needed before 7th November 2025. This covers your son / daughter’s participation place, Welcome Pack, and Licensed Organisation fee.
We thank the staff who facilitate Duke of Edinburgh Award at GMS for their dedicated commitment, which takes place outside the hours of the school day.
