New 3G Pitch at GMS

Published 1 October, 2025

A first-class, ‘state of the art’ new 3G pitch was officially opened on Sunday 27th September, by Dion Dublin at GMS, thanks to investment from the Premier League, the FA, and the Government’s Football Foundation.

The new pitch will facilitate the opportunity to play more games including 11-a-side, 9-a-side, 7-a-side and 5-a-side football, as well as rugby training. Importantly, it will serve as a hub for both the school and the wider community.

The aim is to ensure the facility is as inclusive as possible, with a focus on growing the game for women and girls, as well as creating opportunities for individuals with disabilities to participate: sessions are planned to bring people together to share experiences in a supportive environment.

The site will be used by partner club Marlow Youth FC, partner organisations Wycombe Wanderers Foundation and the Berks & Bucks FA and wider community groups and clubs.

Robert Sullivan, Chief Executive of the Football Foundation, said:

“The Football Foundation is working … to transform the quality of grassroots facilities in England by delivering projects like this across the country.

“Good quality playing facilities have a transformative impact on physical and mental health and play an important role in bringing people together and strengthening local communities.

“We’re delighted that the local community in Marlow will now be able to enjoy all these benefits thanks to the new facilities at Great Marlow School.”

The £879k grant, from the Football Foundation, allowed work to begin on this project in February 2025 and it is ready to use this academic year.
