61-10 Victorious GMS Rugby Team

A final score of 61-10 to GMS is a superb rugby win against local rival John Hampden.

The team, made up of Year 10 and Year 11s, were formidable presence on the pitch, so much so that the opposition found it difficult to cope with the dominant physicality of the GMS team. Our team, mostly made up from GCSE PE students, played a very controlled game, which was epitomised in the way all of the basics were executed properly: a strong defence with no missed tackles; excellent support play, which kept the ball moving forward; solid set piece work employed expertly; and superb discipline maintained throughout.

The men of the match were Dean Whiteley and Olly Hickey. These two Year 11s, along with four others from their year group, were inspired to play as a result of a very positive core PE experience, it was their 2nd ever game.

There is nothing better than a win to inspire the whole school to reach for ‘the sky’. GMS celebrate with the team and their coaches.
