This year, Holocaust Day is being marked in the library, where the librarians have assembled a display about antisemitism during World War II. In addition, the Year 7 and Year 8 are working through a booklet, designed by Mr S Taylor, in their library lessons, which features the life of Anne Frank.
Holocaust Day has always been a feature of GMS: for years, a representative from the Sixth Form visited Auschwitz and Birkenau and given an assembly about their experiences; students in the History Department produce artefacts when studying this aspect of the war; and the English Department discuss the fate of the Jews when reading The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas.
