Charity Shines in GMS

GMS has proved itself a hugely charitable school over the years: locally, nationally and internationally. The recent Ukraine crisis again saw the GMS community stepping-up with bags of donations for the Ukraine Relief Mission, who have undertaken to deliver them.

English teacher, Mrs Kerrie Christiansen, has been central to coordinating the collecting and delivering of the charity goods. She writes to say, “A HUGE thank you to everyone at GMS who kindly donated items to the Ukraine relief mission … Thank you also to the lovely site staff who came to the rescue in the GMS Minibus.”

If anyone would like to donate next week, there is a collection on Tuesday. At present, the Ukrainian Relief Mission has enough clothes. The items being requested are as follows.

Personal hygiene items such as sanitary towels, pads for the elderly, deodorant, dental products, soap, wipes, hand sanitiser, anti-bacterial wipes, anti-bacterial sprays and face masks.

Camping items – sleeping bags (preferably dark in colour), roll mats, batteries, torches.

Camouflage items and hiking boots.

Baby formula, baby food, babies and children’s nappies, wipes and sterilising tablets (for babies’ bottles).

Food- high protein bars, microwave rice, coffee, tea, pasta, tinned vegetables and other ‘easy to cook’ items.

GMS are extremely proud of the way our community has helped and thank everyone for their generosity, also Mrs Christensen for organising the delivering of the items.
