Eco-Conference 9/3/2022

The very first Eco Conference, held in September 2021, was followed this month by an Eco-Conference in Marlow Church of England Infant School. 50 students from 10 secondary and primary sector schools met to exchange ideas and make progress on how Eco-Schools can make an even greater impact on the environment in and around Marlow.

Marlow Church of England School was able to showcase the environmental projects that had taken place on their site. Including raised beds for growing vegetables, rewilded areas to encourage bees, insects and small animals as well as covered areas for teaching outside.

An important day on the calendar is in June it is World Environment Day, the catchphrase this year is Only One Earth. On the agenda was allocated discussion time about how to mark this important event.

The attendees also discussed ideas about how to make an environmental impact in Marlow: further action to clear up litter, an all-Marlow walk or cycle to the school day; a day of avoiding single-use plastic; and even an electricity free day in school.

Already, Marlow C of E Infant and St Peter’s are accredited Eco-Schools under the international Green Flag Scheme. GMS is on a journey to join them.
