Update Rowathon and Here W’Ergo Social Event

The final total for the Rowathon has not yet been finalised. However, GMS can happily say that more than £12,000 has been raised, which is truly  tremendous. The school and GMSBC thank everyone for their wholehearted support, before, on and after the event.

On Friday 1st April, GMS held its great Rowathon. Everyone was really excited that this first-class event could at last return to the school calendar.

The physical demands of taking part in this endeavour were enormous, so it was impressive, and to everyone’s credit, that so many enrolled to raise money for this important event.

The sponsorship money is crucial to helping GMS Boat Club compete on a local and national stage. The wider GMS community network of families, relations, friends, neighbours and local businesses have been amazing supporters. The number of donations is substantial, so a huge thank you goes to everyone who has donated money. If you wish to support this important GMS cause, please go here and make a donation.

This traditionally has been an enormously exciting day and was no different this year: vast numbers of young people went home exhausted, over excited and very noisy – as if they had been to a party, yet hugely invigorated by being a part of a team that made such a huge difference to the boat club and the school.

Rowathon and the, aptly named, evening social event Here W’Ergo are both taking place on 1st April. Both are being organised by Mr F Murison and the team of people championing the boat club. He is supported by form tutors, who are instrumental in encouraging fund-raising and supporting their tutees who are taking part. GMS is enormously grateful to everyone who is working hard to make this day a huge success.

Should you wish to attend the social event, Here W’Ergo, please fill in the attendance form attached to the bottom of the attached poster. GMS Boat Club Social Event 01 04 2022

On April 1st, periods 1 to 3 will see the Years 7 and 8 in the rowing machines. Year 9 will be rowing in lessons 4 and 5.

Here W’Ergo, on the evening of April the 1st, is open for everyone to attend.
