National Poetry Day 06/10

On the first Thursday of October is National Poetry Day, which is a celebration of poetry: this year the theme is ‘The Environment’. Poetry can be serious, funny, and thought-provoking, there is something for everyone in the poetry canon. Our students are being introduced to a selection of poets and their poetry in form and lesson time this week. Enjoyment can be found in writing poetry, too. Greenpeace is inviting students to write and send in poems, the deadline is midnight on 1st December 2022; GMS calls on budding and experienced writers of poetry to enter: poems to be no longer than 400 words.
