Sports Colours Awards 2013

On Friday 18^th October GMS held a Sports Colours assembly led by guest speaker Alex Danson.  She is an England and Team GB hockey player and London 2012 Bronze medallist.  She gave an inspirational speech that traced the hard work she had to do in order to succeed. She spoke about the low times too, and how dedication helped her overcome her difficulties leading to the pinnacle of her career.

The Colours Presentation was an opportunity to celebrate the sporting achievements and efforts of GMS pupils over the past academic year. There were Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 colours awarded. All the students nominated were carefully selected based on at least one of four criteria listed below:

• a sports man or woman representing Great Marlow School, who has reached a significant standard in one or more sport
• a sports man or woman who has shown a commitment to one or more sport during their school career, by consistently working hard to develop their own ability and team performance.
• a sports man or woman who has demonstrated outstanding leadership skills and qualities.
• a sports man or woman who has been an ambassador for Great Marlow School, showing loyalty and commitment to the school and team and acting as a role model for others within the school
