Children’s Mental Health Week

Children’s Mental Health Week runs from 6th February to the 12th February. This year the organisers have adopted the theme ‘Let’s Connect’. Finding a connection with another person is vitally important if there is something that has unsettled a person’s mental health. What is important is realising no-one need be alone, that by connecting and reaching out there will be someone who can help.

People thrive in communities, and this connection is vital for our well-being. When there is healthy connections – to family, friends and others – mental health and our sense of well-being are bolstered. Often, when rewarding social connections fail to blossom, people become isolated and lonely – this kind of negativity impacts on the mental health of the person concerned: what has to be realised is that others are there to help.

Children’s Mental Health Week in 2023 is encouraging connectivity between people to promote healthy, rewarding and meaningful relationships. Parents, carers, wider family and friends all have an important role to play in a child’s mental health.
