The Big Plastic Count

In 2022, almost a quarter of a million people took part in The Big Plastic Count: it found that going on for two billion pieces of plastic packaging was being thrown away every week.

From 11-17th March, thousands of schools, households, community groups and businesses will join The Big Plastic Count. They will consciously count the number of plastic pieces handled during this one week.

GMS has signed up to be part of this initiative and the school would be delighted if the members of our wider community joined in too.

The objective is to build on evidence already gathered that plastic is a product that is harming the planet. This year we all can help build even more evidence to convince UK ministers to lead the way at the global talks that could finally phase out plastic pollution for good.
