DofE Bronze Expeditions

Mr Goodright reports that the recent Bronze training weekends were enormously successful: over 100 Bronze Award students are now ready to undertake their Qualifying Expedition in June. All the students know there are specific requirements in order to be awarded Bronze: just attending is not sufficient. The Duke of Edinburgh award scheme is highly regarded, therefore it has stringent qualifying features.

To be ready, all the students must have

walking boots, as trainers are not suitable for the terrain that Duke of Edinburgh participants have to traverse
plenty of nutritional food, many more calories are required when undertaking a long trek

GMS is awaiting the final details of the location and timings. Once confirmed parents and carers will be responsible for dropping and collecting their children from the start and finishing points. Although these are local, they will not be the same for all groups and are not the same for the two respective weekends, as each expedition is campsite dependent.

Payment is via WisePay. Outstanding payments should be paid as soon as possible.
