Softcat Day

Softcat is an IT company based in Marlow and over the years has supported the school in its Eco-Vision. Members of Softcat visited school to see the new pond site, with its fabulous mural painted by GMS students. Also, the new classroom area, ready for staff and students to use. Arran Bligh is congratulated on his very successful bid to Viola for funding for this project; his pitch to them was compelling, thank you Arran and well done.

The journey towards making this happen has been adventurous and its success belies the phenomenal hard work and drive behind the scenes – led by Miss Addy and a huge supportive network. Everyone in GMS has benefited and we all thank the Eco-Team for believing and making it happen.

The Softcat day was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CRS). Softcat deploys over 60 members of their company to support various projects across primary and secondary schools in Marlow. The guests who came to GMS were incredibly hands on, proactive and welcomed the students into the project developments. They supported the building of an allotment bed, in strimming back the trees around the pond, and for a walkway through the wildflower meadow. They supported the building of a compost bin and an accessible planter for wheelchair users. To make the task easier, they brought in their own equipment to support with these projects.
