GMS & Marlow Library

GMS and Marlow library have linked up to offer ‘Events for GMS Students at Marlow Library’.

  1. Tween Readers Club (for ages 10-15 years ) meets on the first Saturday of each month at Marlow Library. There is no entry fee and you don’t have to pre-book – just turn up at 11:30 and join in the fun chatting about books, films and playing word games and quizzes.
  2. Older students are welcome especially if they would like to help out, lead or plan to run future sessions. This is great way for Duke of Edinburgh hopefuls to complete the ‘Service’ part of the award.
  3. The 2024 Summer Reading Challenge ‘Marvellous Makers’ is about to start on the 6th July, and there is a much going on in libraries all around Buckinghamshire for students to get involved in.

Pop into Marlow library or e-mail lib-mar@buckinghamshire.gov.uk for any further information.

The idea is to promote ‘reading for fun’ during the holiday.

Participants (ages 6-11) sign up at the local library, collect the participant pack and set themselves a challenge to read as many books and magazines, or listen to audiobooks as they feel they are able to during the summer school holidays.

GMS feels this is a great opportunity and challenge for our new Year 7s, or a nice idea for older students to buddy up and help encourage younger siblings.

As participants reach each step on their way to their goal, they collect stickers in their participant pack and once they achieve their goal they are awarded a certificate of achievement.

There are also many other events and craft activities related to the challenge taking place at Marlow library during summer.

So much to join in with.

If a student cannot make it to the library, they can join in online.
