On a chilly evening in early February, the stunning All Saints Church provided the perfect backdrop for our annual A-level Recital Evening, where our talented senior music students showcased their impressive skills in a range of musical genres. With the acoustics of the church enhancing each note, the evening was both magical and inspiring. The programme featured an array of instruments and with standout solo performances.
Year 11 GCSE students started the evening with Marc Aoun, Ivy Burge, Elizabeth and Isobel Gladwell setting the tone with superb performances on the piano, clarinet and saxophone. Each performer conquering their nerves to introduce their pieces.
Year 12 A-level students Jamie Sutton and Matthew Parks were up next. Jamie playing the piano showcasing his talent with every keystroke. As the evening neared its finale, Matthew took the stage with an impressive trumpet solo.
The evening concluded with a powerful and memorable trumpet performance by Year 13 A-level Felix Bowers, who wrapped up the recital with stunning pieces that left the audience in awe.
Reflecting on the evening, Mr. Kidd, Head of Music, shared his thoughts:
“What a fantastic evening! We are incredibly proud of the students and their achievements. The standard of the performances was exceptional. Congratulations to all students involved. A thank you must also go to Mr. Williams, Mrs. Lamming, Mr. Davie, and Mr. Gibbs for their continued support of GMS students and the Music Department.”
The A-level Recital Evening was a true celebration of the resilient hard work of our students, who continue to excel in their musical endeavours. A special thanks goes out to the staff, parents and carers who continue to support these young musicians in their musical journey.
