On 3rd December students from Year 7 to Year 11 are able to access a flu vaccination in school. As flu can be a serious illness this free vaccine will help protect students and keep them well over Christmas and the winter months. Also, it will protect others who are vulnerable like babies and older people.
For most children, the vaccination is painless and is given by a quick and simple spray up the nose. In some circumstances it is necessary to administer the vaccine by intramuscular injection, but this is always discussed with parents/carers beforehand. You may also choose the intramuscular injection if you object to the nasal vaccination on the grounds of Porcine Gelatine, or if the vaccine is otherwise unsuitable. If an intramuscular injection, is required, it can be administered in school on the date above. If you would prefer to be with your child, please contact the immunisation team on 01494 323000 or email buc-tr.BucksChildImms@nhs.net.
Consent is required, please click the link below to complete the consent form and submit it as soon as possible and at least one full school day before the session, to ensure your child can be vaccinated at school. Community clinics will be available across the county if your child is not vaccinated at the school session.
