The students, committedly working towards the Energize Drama performances at the Wycombe Swan on Friday March 21st and Saturday 22nd March, are truly excited about performing in a real theatre to a big audience. They have been working on this piece since the beginning of January to ensure they are performance-ready in March.
It is a great opportunity for some of our extra-ordinary actors to get experience of being on a professional stage. They also experience the excitement of having their own dressing room and being called forward as their piece is near to perform.
We have 15 actors taking part on a piece of work called 12 Yrs Old. It is based on what schools were like for 12-year-olds in Victorian times; an era when children left school for the world of work aged 12. Many children worked down the mines or in big factories. The drama piece moves in time through the 60s and the 80s.
It is a thought provoking drama and has made our students think school is a pretty good experience after all!
On the afternoon of Friday 21st March the final rehearsal is in school. At 5.15 pm to 6.30 pm a second rehearsal happens in Wycombe Swan before curtain-rise at 7 pm.
On Saturday 22nd March, students arrive at the theatre an hour before the performance, which begins at 2pm.
GMS and Mr Ross thank parents, carers and the wider network for all the work invested in the students preparing for this important drama piece including, Mrs Brazier for her dance/ movement piece, Mrs Chenery for costumes and props and Mr Higgins (welcome to the team) for his valuable input at rehearsals.
We wish all our students all the best on Friday and Saturday.
GMS thanks Mr Ross for all his hard work and commitment to drama in the school and for giving our students the experience of performing in a big theatre.
