World Book Day: 6th March

Published 3 March, 2025

The charity World Book Day believes children are more likely to read if they enjoy it, so they have been on a mission to encourage reading for a considerable amount of time. Reading is not a chore but a pleasure that entertains and brings joy. It would be marvellous if more children grew up feeling attuned to the life-changing habit of reading and benefit from all that this hobby this brings.

In GMS we mark this day with our Year 7s being given the option to come to school dressed as a character from a book. This is totally for fun and there is no obligation to dress up.  Students who do not wish to do so can just wear their usual school uniform.

Thank you to the library staff and English Department for facilitating arrangements for this day. We all look forward to seeing some students marking the event by coming to school as a character from a book.
