On Tuesday 17th November we are holding a special event for our students. Ross Welford, author of Time Travelling With A Hamster and The 1000 Year Old Boy, amongst many other titles, will be visiting the school to talk to our Year 7 and Year 8 students about his books.
We are delighted to have secured a visit from Ross – he will provide inspiration for our students’ own writing and will also inspire them about the joy of reading for pleasure. This will support the literacy work that we do in school and also provide a stimulating and memorable experience for the students.
Afterwards, there will be an opportunity for students to visit The Marlow Bookshop stall and buy a pre-ordered book/s that will be signed by the author himself. A signed book can be a permanent reminder of a special experience and can reinforce the message about the importance of reading. If your child would like to pre-order a book/s please look out for the email from Mrs Ben Haj Ali next week.
The books cost £8.99 each and students can either bring in cash or a debit card on the day to pay for their book. The Marlow Bookshop will also hold additional stock in for the week after the event.

The 1000 Year Old Boy : Alfie appears to be eleven but is actually a thousand years old. He learns that immortality isn’t as magical as it seems and discovers the true value of friendship and living a mortal life.
Time Travelling With A Hamster: Al uses a homemade time machine and his pet hamster to try and save his father, risking the past and future in the process.
Into The Sideways World: Willa and Manny discover a perfect world where pollution and conflict are absent, but they must decide if they can leave it behind as their own world faces war.
This is an exciting opportunity, one not to be missed. As in past years, all the students are thrilled to meet a real life author.
