On Thursday 22nd October, Great Marlow School was transformed into a sea of colour as students and staff came together to celebrate our first House Colours Day!
It was fantastic to see everyone proudly representing their houses, with Falcons wearing orange, Kites in red, Eagles in green and Hawks in blue. From colourful tops and trousers to an array of accessories, including hats, sunglasses and socks, everyone made a brilliant effort to show their house pride.
A huge thank you goes to Mrs Rooney, who did a fantastic job capturing each House as they came together for their official 2026 House photograph. Each House had their photo taken outside, with the entries then judged by Mr Pendlebury.
After carefully considering the photographs, Mr Pendlebury announced the results:
1st – Kites (Red)
2nd – Hawks (Blue)
3rd – Falcons (Orange)
4th – Eagles (Green)
Mr Pendlebury was particularly impressed by the representation of House colours, with Kites taking the top spot for having the biggest display of their House colour. Congratulations to everyone in Kites.
House Colours Day wasn’t just about dressing up and showing off our colours. Throughout the day, teachers also took the opportunity to gather valuable feedback from students about our House system. Students shared their ideas about what they would like to see at House Winners’ Day, what they enjoy most about being part of a House at GMS, and how our House Leads and House Captains could help make the system even better.
It was wonderful to see so much enthusiasm, creativity and House spirit across the school.
Thank you to all students and staff for being involved and making House Colours Day such a success. Every achievement point counts and every member of our school community plays a part in making our House system something to be proud of.
The House Leaders have introduced a winning competition that cements the importance of Houses and clearly identifies every member with their House colour.
