At GMS students and staff are celebrating fantastic results achieved by our Year 13 students. Incredible achievements, across the board, mean our students are ready to move onto the next stage of their lives.
A total of 108 students were entered for Level 3 qualifications, with an impressive 44 % of A-level grades awarded at A* to B and 73% at grades A*-C
Owen Hollyman, Assistant Headteacher and Head of Sixth Form, said, ‘It gives me immense pleasure, and a huge sense of pride, to see the fruition of the students’ endeavour throughout their KS5 studies. Our students set themselves high personal goals in terms of the grades to which they aspire and the universities and career choices to which they set their sights on accessing. It is wonderful to see so many of our Year 13 cohort being able to accept offers from such a wide range of institutions including The University of Leeds, The University of Southampton, Bristol University and Loughborough University. With the strong results that the Year 13 students have attained, the vast majority have accepted their first-choice university destinations and offers of apprenticeships or employment.’
Guy Pendlebury, Headteacher, said, ‘As a school we are once again incredibly proud of our Year 13 students who have attained such a fabulous set of results. A-level results at A*-A are the best the school has ever achieved. In addition, A-level results at A*- B (44%) and A*-C (73%) are also the highest the school has ever achieved. The students have worked incredibly hard over the last two years and continue to demonstrate ambition, resourcefulness and resilience in their studies. We would also like to take this opportunity to not only to thank staff at the school for their hard work but also the parents and carers of the cohort for their consistent support of their children and the school community.
