Great Marlow School is Proud of Prestigious Scholarship Winner

 

A talented Great Marlow School pupil has taken up the offer of a prestigious accountancy scholarship with Kaplan. 18-year-old Daniel Moore is one of only 15 young people to succeed in gaining a scholarship place from a field of more than 300 applicants.

The Great Marlow School pupil impressed the judges with his dedication, determination and ambition; his reward is the fantastic chance of an accountancy training package worth up to £15,000.

In a recent interview he acknowledged, “An apprenticeship is a great opportunity to achieve a professional qualification whilst developing work experience. This was reason that influenced my decision; an apprenticeship gives practical experience in a way that the university route would not because university relies on textbooks and lectures. Of course a salary is an added bonus, you earn money rather than accumulating a large debt.”

At present, Daniel is placed in a Maidenhead accountancy firm, where he has begun studying for the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification at Kaplan’s in Reading.

Joey Harman, Kaplan apprenticeship’s co-ordinator said: “Congratulations to Daniel! The competition was exceptionally high this year, so he should be proud of himself; to be awarded a place is an achievement in itself. The Scholarship programme is a great opportunity especially in a time when it’s so hard for young adults to find employment with work based training. And with university fees being so expensive apprenticeships are a real viable career option to become a qualified accountant without getting into debt.”
